2016 was a year of consistent, hard work. But not without purpose. My partner and I had decided to head to Italy again (his home country), and this time for a longer trip. Almost 3 months. Admittedly, for most of the year, the thought of leaving for such a long time filled me with terror. What about work? Missed audition opportunities? …And the cost?! Ouch.
But it was important we go. He deserved an extended stay with his family, I was in need of a true “Sure, Why Not?” adventure, and hey – we were finally in the position to grab our laptops and take our work (though hopefully not too much) on the road. Besides, who says no to 3 months in Italy?
We arrived on December 29th and are using his parents’ place as a home base. They live in Pegli, a relatively small province of Genova (aka Genoa… don’t ask me why English speakers call it that) that’s right next to the sea. Full of character and much less affected than other areas in Italy as it’s not a tourist destination (although Genova aquarium brings many to the city as it’s Italy’s biggest aquarium and one of the biggest in Europe).
To save money, we haven’t hired a car yet (11 weeks of car rental? no thanks!) so my adventures have been strictly local, but I managed to go for a walk around the neighbourhood yesterday and take a few photos that’ll give you an idea of the feel of the place. Just in time, too, as it got COLD today and it may snow!
Enjoy the images. I look forward to sharing chapter 2 with you soon!
